Spotify includes explicit content because we offer it how the artist intends it to be heard.
Look out for EXPLICIT or E tags on any releases.
Note: We can’t tag all explicit content because it depends on information we get from rights-holders.
Filter explicit content
Pick your device to allow or block anything with explicit tags.
Mobile & Tablet
Note: Explicit content settings don’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device.
- Tap Home
. - Tap Settings
. - Tap Explicit Content.
- Switch Allow Explicit Content off.
Anything with an explicit tag is now grayed out. You can’t play it, and it’s automatically skipped.
Desktop
Note: Explicit content settings don’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device.
- Click
in the top-right and select Settings. - Under Explicit Content, switch Allow playback of explicit-rated content off.
Tracks marked as explicit now appear grayed out. It’s not possible to play them, and they’re automatically skipped.
